Maura is your friendly neighborhood wizard-type, showing up to the function with pipe weed, impossibly delicious candies, the worst news you've ever heard in your life, and (seemingly!) even worse advice. But just trust her. She's been around since the Bronze Age and she really does know what she's doing.

Permanently disheveled/winded. Fond of a cozy knit. Glasses optional. Highly expressive and does not attempt to keep her emotions and opinions from showing on her face. Carries around a large rowan wood staff.

🍀 Maura isn't sure exactly where she came from. She was raised by a human woman but that was so very long ago and, at the time, she hadn't thought it important to ask too many questions. Her best guess is that she is a demigod but she'll answer to witch, wizard, sorceress, or any other moniker for a magic user that's spoken with good intent.
🍀 Although she arrived on the scene with innate magical abilities, she did have to study to hone her sorcery. Maura spent her "youth" under the tutelage of all sorts of magical beings, notably: Silas the Soothsayer (RIP), the Children of Lir, Koschei (good times), the spirit of the River Boyne, the three Morrigna (actually just two, one of them was busy), and Hozier. Through her studies, she became something of a jack of all trades and is familiar with most forms of magic, although she most naturally gravitates toward Communion with Nature. In the earliest days of civilization, Maura spent most of her time counseling humans and various magical creatures with mixed success.

🍀 Being an immortal, genius, godlike sorceress can get a bit lonely, but Maura has had her familiar, Bob, for oh ... some number of thousands of years and so life hasn't been too bad lately. Maura and Bob have gotten into more than their fair share of hijinks over the years—organizing a labor strike against Rameses III, popularizing the one-shouldered exomis tunic look, unsinking and resinking Atlantis—but mostly they live a fairly quiet, normal life these days.

🍀 Claims (correctly!) that the whole concept of confessional—and thus the backbone of Catholicism—is based on her personal mantra: "Haha whoops!" The first step on the road to absolution is admitting you did a whoops, after all.
🍀 Feels very strongly that if Merlin had just minded his own business, the British monarchy would have collapsed a long time ago and left the world a much better place.
